Marketing and Communications Department Records
Scope and Contents
The records of the Marketing and Communications Department of Reynolda House Museum of American Art spans from the Museum's opening in 1967 to 2020. The records include a wide variety of materials including correspondence, notes, clippings, press releases, press packets, research material, and ephemera.
The records are arranged into four series: Administrative Files, Programs and Exhibits, Exhibitions, and Printed Material.
The majority of the records document the Museum's marketing and public relations for its exhibitions and programs. The Exhibtions and Programs series contains newspaper and magazine clippings, press releases, press packets, marketing plans, event information, notes, and research material.
Majority of the content within this series includes various things involving the community. The content includes general progression of the estate and the museum with achievments and new exhibitions. The content shows how much the museum has wanted to attract people of various ages, backgrounds, and cultures. More than half of the content shows exhibitions and camps/workshops for families with children. Other aspects of the series show information of the staff, and how Reynolda becomes involved within the community, not necessarily trying to attract the community, but to give back as well.
