Artificial Collection, 1917-1985
Scope and Contents
This artificial collection contains items donated from various sources including the Sears, Drage, Conrad, Sigmon, Disher, and Fulcher families. The bulk of the collection are photographs and prints donated by families of people who were once residents or employees on the estate. Pictured among the collection are many estate workers and buildings in Reynolda Village. Significantly, this collection includes copy prints donated by Gigi Parent that were gathered for the Spirit of Reynolda exhibit in 1993 that documented Black workers on the estate. That grouping of photographs is the only visual representation of Five Row, the African American community for Reynolda workers, that still exists. Other items include photographs of Reynolda House, Lake Katharine, and Reynolda Gardens taken by Thomas Series, and aerial photographs of Reynolda taken in 1985.
