This series documents the activities of Hardin William Reynolds and represent life on Rock Spring Plantation in Patrick County, Virginia in the second half of the nineteenth century. These papers concern Hardin’s tobacco business, general store, legal dealings, and slave holdings. Notably, account records, bills of sale, and Freedmen’s papers record information about the African Americans living on the estate before and after the Civil War.
